We use a variety of ingredients to enhance our products.  Here is a very short description of some of these ingredients and what they bring to handmade soap and cosmetics.

Colloidal oats - Oats are used in cosmetics to create a barrier over the skin to seal in moisture.  They are also great for soothing dry, irritated or problematic skin.
Botanicals - Calendula, chamomile and plantain leaf are botanicals that are also used for their ability to soothe irritated skin.  They are full of anti-oxidants and are also anti-inflammatory making them perfect for skincare formulas.
Sugar, honey, maple syrup, molasses - All sugars add bubbles!  Big, fluffy bubbles!  The honey, maple syrup and molasses are also humectants which help retain moisture in the skin.
Sodium lactate - Made from the natural fermentation of sugar found in corn and beets, it is an extremely effective humectant helping the skin retain moisture.  It is also used in soap to assist with firming the soap loaf quickly.
Milks - Whether it's cows milk, goats milk, buttermilk, or coconut milk, milk assists with providing creamy, conditioning properties to any product.
Aloe Vera - With an extensive history in skin healing, aloe contains antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C, and is highly anti-inflammatory.
SLSA - Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate is a fine white powder that comes from coconut and palm oils.  It is a surfactant that creates big, fluffy bubbles.
Butters - Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Mango Butter.  Butters are an absolute must in cosmetics.  Each butter is unique in what it brings to the table. Cocoa butter is a very hard butter and is rich in vitamin E.  It forms a barrier on the skin that not only protects it, but repairs it!  Shea butter reduces irritation and redness, regenerates cells and moisturizes skin.  Mango butter contains vitamins A, B and C.  It is anti-inflammatory and absorbs easily into the skin.
